2017 WAS ONE HELL OF A YEAR!!!

Boy oh boy! What a freaking year! I could actually turn this blog post into a book, but I won't.  I will try my best to sum up my experience in the year of 2017 in as few characters as possible. Listen, most of you won't care much about this post. Some of you will actually take this moment of truth to point out my flaws and totally disrespect my struggle! And very few of you will actually respect my mind, my devotion and my motivation to build my brand.

So, here we go!

January 2017! 2 and a half months after getting my cosmetology license in Ohio, I put into the atmosphere I was moving to Atlanta, Georgia. I had always wanted to leave Cincinnati. But up until to that point, I never really "put it into action". I always had something keeping me stuck back home. Rather it be schooling, life-sucking relationships, pregnancy or mental complacency... I didn't bust a move.

However, at this moment of my life, when I decided to move and have faith in myself to live out my desires, I knew it was time to really go! I had nothing holding me back. No ties to anyone or anything. I needed to leave. Not just in pursuit of accomplishing career goals, but to actually, for once, try something amazingly daring!

So here I am!

But through my journey here in Georgia, It has been hard! Everything isn't so "glitzy and glam"! You have to hustle, compete, and stay hungry 24/7 x 100,000,000!!! (Twenty four seven times one million) Translation, ALL THE F****** TIME! And even that isn't enough. You need to exude confidence in what you do, and I admit, I've had situations that could have took me further than where I am. I've met some movers and shakers here, but because of my lack of confidence at times, I didn't take the chance to GROW!

It's different here. It's easy to get caught up in a lieu things if your not spiritually grounded or have some sort of moral sanity. It's a bigger city, so yes you can create a networking system and more friends, but even more enemies. That southern hospitality isn't as prevalent as it use to be. (My opinion of course). Opportunities are not knocking at your door! It's a million salons, stylists, mobile spas, and beauty moguls all wanting the same audience, attention, dreams, and money! We are all commanding the stage!

I've been booked for modeling shoots, wedding parties, one on one makeup sessions and mobile salon & spa services. I had the chance to meet well respectable industry leaders, and be surrounded by people with tons of money. And Black people with money at that! But I've also had my dark times. The moments of fear, doubt, no bookings, no money, no creative spark and no self motivation! While still having my 3 children to raise, feed, and teach! Bills coming and no one caring how talented and driven you are!

Like really, no one cares!

Yet in 2018, I'm expecting more of it! What's all this worth without the blood, sweat and tears? How can I truly change if I have no obstacles to push me to? Why would I bring myself and my family here to quit? It's hard! REAL REAL HARD! But any successful business man or woman can most certainly agree, achieving your dreams aren't easy! This is my testament. My whole struggle is a road map to a much stronger, smarter and more confident woman. To become a self made force in the beauty industry.

Yes, there are times I want to go back home. and see my dad, my sister and many, many others! But not without a fight! Not without trying to check off each one of my goals and reasons for moving in the first place! 2017 was fun, exciting, sad, crazy, scary, dark, bright, gloomy and sunny... It has well prepared me for what's to come in 2018!!!

Thank you for taking the time to read my 2017 reflection. If you'd like to speak on your 2017 or share your journey to accomplishing some of your personal goals, challenges or spread motivation, leave a comment. And be sure to turn that white heart red below!
